HOME SAFETY TRAINING SOLDIER'S FIELD CARD
  • Use  dismounted ground guides
  • Antennae tie down when driving in the cantonment area
  • Use wheel chocks for both vehicles and trailers
  • No sleeping in or around vehicles
  • Use safety belts (TO INCLUDE TRACKED VEHICLES)
  • SPEED LIMITS:  25 mph for all tactical vehicles in the cantonment area; 25 mph for all wheeled vehicles on tank trails; 15 mph for all tracked vehicles on tank trails;  5 mph for all vehicles crossing bridges
  • DRIVERS MAY ONLY WEAR PROTECTIVE MASKS ON TANK TRAILS

  • Fuel operations must be conducted in designated POL areas or motor pools.  Trucks must be grounded.
  • POL spills must be reported to Range Operations immediately.  A spill report must be conducted including the following information:
                    Time spill occurred or was first observed.
                    Location and type of spill.
                    Estimated amount of spill, or release rate if continuing.
                    Description of nearby areas likely to be affected.

    ACTION TO BE TAKEN IN THE EVENT OF A SPILL:

  1. 1  STOP FLOW:  SHUT OFF VALVES, ETC.
  2. 2  CONTAIN SPILL:  USE ABSORBENTS, DIRT, SAWDUST, ETC.  PREVENT SPILL FROM ENTERING WATERWAYS
  3. 3  SECURITY:  KEEP OTHER VEHICLES OR PERSONNEL OUT OF THE SPILL AREA
  4. 5  CLEAN:  SCOOP UP THE CONTAMINATED DIRT AND ABSORBENTS AND PLACE THEM IN AN APPROPRIATE CONTAINER
  5. 6  REPORT THE SPILL TO RANGE OPERATIONS:  292-2227/8334
  • A comprehensive Installation Spill Contingency Plan (ISCP) is available from the Environmental Coordinator, MR. DAVID SHORT
               (x2211), for units handling large volumes of fuel.
