Natural Resources (Hunting and Fishing)

Regulations

All individuals hunting and/or fishing at Fort Pickett must comply with all federal, state, local, and installation regulations. A copy of these regulations is available here, or at the FP Game Check Station.

Closings

Fort Pickett will be closed for hunting on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. In addition, inclement weather, scheduled military training, and safety concerns may close all or part of the post to hunting. Please call the Game Check Station or hotline for details.

Permits

Individuals participating in activities on Fort Pickett must have in their possession a current Fort Pickett permit, a valid VA hunting, fishing, or trapping license, and a state or federal game stamp, if required by law. Permits to hunt and/or fish may be purchased at the Fort Pickett Game Check Station during valid operational hours. Otherwise, permits may be obtained at Bevell's/Ace Hardware in Blackstone, VA.

Permit Fees

Permit fees have increased this year to better suport personnel and programs. They are listed in the regulations document.

Maps

Fishing and hunting maps are available in limited numbers and on request from the Fort Pickett Game Check Station.
