Empty Containers:

This SOP applies to all activities, to include tenants, and training units within the Maneuver Training Center (MTC).

(1) All Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) metal/plastic containers above 5-gallons must be completely drained of contents or triple rinsed before turn-in of the containers at the Recycling Center (Building T-2360). Those activities using the draining method must tilt the container on its edge for a minimum 24 hours to allow the contents to drain completely into a leak proof container. POL that is collected will be poured into a USED OIL TANK.

(2) All activities that stockpile containers outside for a bulk turn-in must first drain or triple rinse the containersas described above and store them horizontally with bung caps in place.

(3) All metal paint cans must be completely empty and the residue dry before acceptance at the Recycling Center. Any full or partially full cans must be turned-in to the Recycling Center as a waste.

(4) All POL plastic containers up to 5-gallons must be completely empty before disposal in a dumpster.

(5) All pesticide containers must be triple rinsed at Building P-303 before disposal in a dumpster.

(6) The certification statement in Appendix E must be completed before any turn-in will be accepted at the Recycling Center. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
