Vehicle Safety
Use dismounted ground guidesUse wheel chocks for both vehicles and trailers
Seatbelt use is mandatory in tactical vehicles (TO INCLUDE TRACKED VEHICLES). As per DA, and Fort Pickett Regulations, the proper way to wear seatbelts in a tactical vehicle is as follows:
        LCE, LBV, OR OTHER LOAD BEARING EQUIPMENT is NOT
        authorized to be worn with safety belts. Load Bearing
        Equipment must be removed and then safety belt worn.
SPEED LIMITS:
        25 mph for all tactical vehicles in the cantonment area
        25 mph for all wheeled vehicles on tank trails
        15 mph for all tracked vehicles on tank trails
        5 mph for all vehicles crossing bridges
Helmets
        The wear of helmets while riding in tactical vehicles in the
        training areas is mandatory as per DA and Fort Pickett
        Regulations. In addition to this, helmets are required while
        operating tactical vehicles in a training environment in the
        cantonment area. The unit commander has the authority to
        authorize other headgear while operating tactical vehicles in
        the cantonment area only while in an administrative (non-
        tactical) mode only.
DRIVERS MAY ONLY WEAR PROTECTIVE MASKS ON TANK TRAILS
No sleeping in or around vehicles
Antennae tie down when driving in the cantonment area
Motor marches/convoys
No vehicles will have headlights, tail lights, or turn signals camouflaged.Convoys moving to and from training areas will not use Hwy. 40, but will use range boundary road.
Night road marches across Hwy. 40 must be coordinated with the Provost Marshal Office.
Road guards must be posted for crossing Hwy. 40 and other major intersections with proper safety gear for light conditions.
Vehicles carrying ammunition/explosives will use designated routes only. Use of Hwy. 40 and 46 are prohibited, except when crossing.
Vehicles will not be parked in parking lots or near buildings when loaded with ammunition/explosives.
Fueling
Fuel operations must be conducted in designated POL areas or motor pools. Trucks must be grounded.POL spills must be reported to Range Operations immediately. A spill report must be conducted including the following information:
        Time spill occurred or was first observed.
        Location and type of spill.
        Estimated amount of spill, or release rate if continuing.
        Description of nearby areas likely to be affected.
ACTION TO BE TAKEN IN THE EVENT OF A SPILL:
        1. STOP FLOW: SHUT OFF VALVES, ETC.
        2. CONTAIN SPILL: USE ABSORBENTS, DIRT, SAWDUST, ETC.
        PREVENT SPILL FROM ENTERING WATERWAYS
        3. SECURITY: KEEP OTHER VEHICLES OR
        PERSONNEL OUT OF THE SPILL AREA
        4. CLEAN: SCOOP UP THE CONTAMINATED DIRT AND ABSORBENTS
        AND PLACE THEM IN AN APPROPRIATE CONTAINER
        5. REPORT THE SPILL TO RANGE OPERATIONS: 292-2227/8334
